02. Why Animations?
So Why Animations?
The late Hans Rosling was an award-winning Swedish physician, academic, statistician, and public speaker, a professor of International Health, and the founder of the Gapminder Foundation. He was a renowned public speaker, and delivered numerous TED talks on global development. Shortly after his death, his book Factfulness was published.
His firm Gapminder developed a software tool called Trendalyzer that allowed people to explore relationships between world indicator data points. He famously set data to motion in the TED talk “The best stats you've ever seen” and debunked several myths about world development.
Hans Rosling was a master data storyteller, and much of what we’ll try to do in the coming two lessons is channel his passion, energy and skill to weave animated data into stories that bring data to life.
